This week from Davis and Johnson Kindergarten Corner

October 30 – November 3, 2017

This week we are continuing our pumpkin seed count and we are making Yuk Soup. We looked inside of an orange pumpkin and compared what we found to the inside of a white (snowbaby) pumpkin. We found the same type and color of seeds in each pumpkin.

                       Ms.Thomas and Mrs.Little’s Class

Ms. A.Thomas and Mrs. Little’s Kindergarten class explored pumpkins this week. We analyzed, recorded, and opened up a real pumpkin. Our students were so excited touch, smell, and taste, and see a real pumpkin. We learned new vocabulary words such as: pulp, pumpkin, hollow, seeds, and stem. We also demonstrated the six stages of a pumpkin’s life cycle through journal writings/drawings.

Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Reese’s Class

Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed!  The students in Mrs. Watson and Ms. Reese’s class enjoyed learning about apples and the American folk tale legend Johnny Appleseed on September 26th.  The students spent the day engaged in reading, math and science related activities. The children tasted Red Delicious apples and Granny Smith apples. The students voted and graphed the data. The red delicious apples were the class favorite. It was a great day to be in Kindergarten at Crosswell Drive Elementary!

Ms. Taylor and Mrs. Fleming’s Class

Kindergarten is excited about a new year with a new crop of students. We are having a blast in Kindergarten by getting to know the school, our friends and learning rules and procedures. Ms. Taylor and Mrs. Fleming’s class is starting the year off by doing an “All About Me ” project. This project was a project that was each student was to do  with their parent(s) at home. The projects  were very creative and interesting. Each child will be given a special prize for completing the project and they will present their projects orally in class.
