CDE welcomes a new Assistant Principal who is actually not new to the Crosswell Drive Elementary family. Dr. Tonyetta Thomas has served as an educator for the past seventeen years. She began her career in public education at Crosswell Drive Elementary School eight years ago and has served as an early childhood teacher, reading interventionist, and part-time curriculum coach. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from Columbia College, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Walden University, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Capella University ,and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Capella University. She is currently working on a second doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. She was chosen to participate in Sumter School District’s 2019-2020 cohort of Leading Within. As an educator she believes that building positive relationships with students promotes a positive learning environment and is one of the best investments we can make with our students. Her favorite saying is… “If you can touch their hearts then you can grab their minds”. In her spare time she serves as Youth Director at her church and Sunday School teacher. She loves spending time at home with her family. Congratulations to Dr. Tonyetta Thomas as she begins her new journey.
